Gayle's fastest ton leads RCB innings


NEW DELHI: Opener Chris Gayle scored blistering unbeaten 175 off 66 balls to power Royal Challengers Bangalore to 263/5 against Pune Warriors India in their IPL match at the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore on Tuesday.

Gayle scripted history as he scored the fastest century in the history of cricket against Pune Warriors India.


This is the highest T20 score ever made by any team thus far. Gayle hit a total of 17 sixes and 13 fours in his breathtaking knock.


Gayle slammed a 30-ball blistering century with the help of 11 sixes and 8 boundaries. Bangalore team reached the 200-run mark in just 15.5 overs.


Gayle slammed 17 sixes during his record knock which are maximum scored by any player in one innings.


The Gayle storm continued to haunt Pune bowlers as he scored 150 runs in just 53 balls with the help of 11 fours and 16 sixes.


Openers Gayle and Tillakaratne Dilshan added 167 runs for the first wicket as Pune side got the first breakthrough in the 14th over when Ali Murtaza dismissed Dilshan, who scored 33 off 36 balls.


Gayle also scored the fastest ever IPL hundred in just 30 balls as he surpassed Yusuf Pathan's 37-ball ton.


Gayle's bat was breathing fire right from the start as he hammered four sixes and one boundary in one single over of Mitchell Marsh.


Earlier, the IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Pune Warriors India was briefly interrupted by rain after the start at the Chinnaswamy stadium.


Bangalore side, after they were put into bat, made 11 in just 1.2 overs when the rain played spoilsport.


Gayle welcomed debutant seamer Ishwar Pandey by hammering two boundaries of Pandey's first two deliveries.


Pune Warriors India skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to field against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their IPL match.


Bangalore retained their side, which beat Rajasthan Royals, while Pune made three changes as Mitchell Marsh came in place of Ajantha Mendis, debutant Ishwar Pandey replaced Abhishek Nayar and Ali Murtaza drafted in place of leggie Rahul Sharma in the final eleven.
