London, Mar 22: Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has hinted at leaving the club after stating that if another club with better prospects of competing in international tournaments approached him in the summer, "they are welcome".
Suarez, 25, who is currently on international duty with Uruguay, has carried Liverpool for much of the season and has put some of Europe's top clubs on high alert with his comments.
Pep Gourdiola, who will coach Bayern Munich next season, is the brother of Suarez's agent, Pere, is interested to sign the Ururguayan star while Juventus and Manchester City are also planning a move for the striker.
Suarez recently signed a four-year contract until 2017 worth £100,000-a-week with extras and the striker has earlier admitted he is 'very happy' at Anfield. However, the club will seek answes as to what he exactly meant when he spole about his future.
I am very happy at Liverpool but you never know in football," Suarez said. "A player's ambition is always there, the ambition of wanting to play in elite teams is always there. I'm in a world-class team, an elite team like Liverpool."
"If another team comes around with more prospects of competing in international club competition games, which is willing to have me, they are welcome. We would talk to the club, we would see if I want to go, if I don't want to go," he added.
Suarez, who has scored 29 goals this season, did recognise the fact that Brendan Rodgers is brining in a passing philosphy at the club. "We have to realise we have a new manager who is imposing a philosophy and a way of playing that the players are adapting to as best we can. We hope that it will bear fruit next year," Suarez said.
Meanwhile, Liverpool's managing director Ian Ayre said the club has no desire to sell Suarez in the near future.
Liverpool are currently seventh in the league, nine points below fourth place and Suarez could be tempted away from Anfield if they fail to secure a spot in the Champions League.
